Obituary:
Steven Lee “Dawg” Luster, age 57, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the home of his sister, Carol Ann, who cared for him in his final days. Steve was a fighter and had beaten his battle with cancer 10 years ago, before losing his most recent fight. Steve was known to his family as “Weaver” and was a member of the River of Life Church, Laborer’s Local #561 and had worked for General Foods for 20 years, where he was a Union Steward. He was a Democrat to the bone. He enjoyed collecting antiques, shooting pool, was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and a member of the NRA. Weaver was a loving Uncle to all of his nieces and nephews, holding a very special place in his heart for nieces, Amber Burns, Shelby “Peeny” Burns, great nieces, Maci “Poppycock” McCutchan and Aubry “E-E” Brantley, whom he loved getting “clean kisses” from every night. Surviving Steve are his son, Toby Luster; his mother, Esther (Guess) Luster; two sisters, Barbara Lynn Mayes and Carol Ann Burns; grandbaby, Miley Jo Luster; grandson, Andru Beasley and lifelong companion and friend, Barbara Jean Luster. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Luster in 2001; by his brother, Michael E. Luster in 2000; his nephew, Jeremy Luster in 2008 and by his stepson, Christopher Beasley Luster in 1992. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 25, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Wayne Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Tupman Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to River of Life Church, 1000 S. Barker Ave., Evansville, IN 47712, for a project Steve felt very strongly about, a recreation room to be constructed for the children of the church. Weaver’s family would like to thank Wayne Wells and his wife for the special friendship and care they gave to Steve over the last 3 years.
