Obituary:
Verna M. (Cox) Deig, age 82, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Woodbridge Golden Living Center. Verna was born April 6, 1930 in Evansville to the late Arthur and Zola Cox. Mrs. Deig was a graduate of Bosse High School and the Westside Beauty College. She owned and operated beauty shops around Evansville and continued to dress hair at local funeral homes even after her retirement. She was a member of Forest Hills Wesleyan Church, Riverbend Association, Red Hat Society and a life member of the VFW Post #1114 Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband, George Deig; two stepdaughters, Sandy (Carl) Barron of Clearwater, FL and Gail Deig of Henderson; stepson, Tim Deig of Evansville; grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Verna was preceded in death by two daughters, Jeannie Stockley and Peggy Cosby. Funeral services for Verna will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Monday, August 27, 2012 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Michael Stoelting officiating. Entombment will follow in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. The family would like to thank Woodbridge Golden Living Center and staff for the compassion and care shown to Verna during her time there.
