Obituary:
Donald R. Killian, age 77, of Evansville, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2009 at the VNA Charlier Hospice Center. Don was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and a life member of VFW Post #1114. He enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool and watching sports on television, especially football. Don had a hearty laugh and was loved by everyone. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Ruth (Matz) Killian; three sons, Duane Killian and his companion, Roberta “Bobbi”, Deryl Killian and his wife, Hazel and Doug Killian and his friend, Jackie, all of Evansville; two sisters, Janis Arvin of Indianapolis and Sharon Burnes and her husband, Paul of Wadesville; three brothers, George Killian and wife, Doris of Evansville, Wayne Killian and wife, Janice of Wadesville and Bill Killian of Evansville. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Randie, Dustin, Crystal, Conner and Claire, sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Butch Marx of Evansville and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Killian. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, August 7, 2009 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Rev. Jim Blessinger officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. Friends may also visit with the family from 9:30 until service time on Friday at the church. The family would like to thank both SouthernCare and VNA Hospice and staffs for their care of Don and compassion shown to the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
