Alberta Regina (Benkert) Fehrenbacher, age 91, of Evansville, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Fehrenbacher had been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County since 1939, a member of the St. Ann’s Altar Society at the church and had held office in the St. Joe Senior Citizens program since its inception. Alberta was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening.
Mrs. Fehrenbacher is survived by four daughters and their husbands, Joan and George David, Carol and Harvey Klenck and Mary Ann and Mark Miller, all of Evansville, Betty and Jerry David of Bloomington, IN; four sons, Gary Fehrenbacher and friend, Ruth Burke, Bob Fehrenbacher and his wife, Mary K., of Evansville, Dennis Fehrenbacher and his wife, Jovita, of Grand Rivers, KY and John Fehrenbacher, MD and wife, Cindy of Indianapolis, IN and three sisters, June Riedford of Evansville, Eljean Sollman and Joyce Henderson, both of Haubstadt. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert A. Fehrenbacher in May of 2000, her brother, Leo “Bud” Benkert, Jr. and sister, Mildred Wallace.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 7th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County, Rev. Gene Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service held at 7:00 P.M. Friends may also visit with the family from 9:00 A.M. Saturday until service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Carpenter Society, St. Joseph Catholic Church or the Haiti Mission Fund, in care of St. Joseph Catholic Church, 6202 W. St. Joe Road, Evansville, IN 47720.
