Nathalie (Galloway) Funke, 87, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
Mrs. Funke worked for the U. S. Census Bureau for 17 years and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she served as chairman of the Bell Restoration Fund. She made candy for Sacred Heart P.T.A. booth for the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival for over 40 years.
Nathalie had been a Cub Scout den mother and enjoyed traveling, quilting and sewing.
She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Phyllis and Larry Palmer, Carol and Rev. Tim Goodman and Cindy and Doctor John Fehrenbacher, three sons and their wives, Raymond and Kathy Funke, Doctor Tony and Bonnie Funke and Chris and Patti Funke. Grandchildren, Jenny Palmer, Vickie and Andy Alcorn, Robert and Renee Palmer, Amy and Steve Russler, Nicholas and Crystal Funke, Andy Funke, Libby Funke, Mitch Funke, Michaelann and Rob Stanley, Tracy Goodman, Kelly and Greg Etheridge, Noah and Courtney Fehrenbacher, Isaac Fehrenbacher, Victor Fehrenbacher, Tess Funke, Louis Funke, Ella Funke, Sophie Funke, Katie Funke, Alex Funke and Adriana Funke and 13 great grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Elma Townsend, Jean Beaty, Shirley (Winston) Foerster and Janet Abney and one brother, Lloyd (Judy) Galloway.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Funke in 1994, a daughter, Sarah Jane Funke in 1950 and sisters, Cleo Sovercool, Eva Reilly, Mildred Soellner, Billy Ashworth and Anna Frances Feuerbach and a brother, Willis Galloway.
Funeral services will begin at 9:45 A.M. Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Pierre Funeral Home continuing at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rev. David Nunning officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street where a memorial service will be held at 5:00 P.M.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Bell Fund or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
