John Frederick Benthine, age 86, of Evansville, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2009 at The Terrace at Solarbron.
Mr. Benthine had lived in Evansville since 2007, having lived previously in Winterhaven, Florida. He was an excellent chef and worked in the restaurant business and enjoyed gardening, flowers and vegetables. John was a member of the First Christian Church of Mt. Vernon.
Surviving Mr. Benthine are his wife, Helen (Beers) May Benthine; a stepson and his wife, Larry and Sherry May of Evansville; five grandchildren, Lisa Lowe, Derek and Jason May, Amy Spoede and Julie Ann Baker and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Tom Buffington officiating.
Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 A.M. until service time on Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Mt. Vernon, IN.
