Barbara Jo (Conrad) Bauer, age 68, of Evansville, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at her home.
Mrs. Bauer was a member of St. Wendel Catholic Church and the Knights of St. John at St. Wendel Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to being a homemaker, Barbara had worked for Abel Energy and the Evansville Housing Authority. She was an avid lover of animals and enjoyed traveling the world with her husband.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Gerald J. Bauer; three daughters and their husbands, Cathy and Tim Elpers and Angela and Scott Ellison, all of Evansville and Mary and Mike Yon of Naples, FL; her son, Steven J. Bauer of Evansville and two sisters, Juanita Vaught of Galivant’s Ferry, SC and Shirley Mays of Evansville. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jennifer Schaperjohn, Ashley Elpers, Derek J. Bauer, Julia and Phillip Yon and Wayne Ellison; great grandchild, Tucker Schaperjohn and a beloved aunt and friend, Betty Conrad of Evansville.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, James B. and Edith Mae (Russell) Conrad and a sister, Ruth Arlene Baumgartner.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 14, 2009 at St. Wendel Catholic Church, Revs. Ed Schnur and Ted Tempel officiating. Entombment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum.
Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service held at 3:00 P.M. Friends may also visit with the family from 9:30 A.M. until service time on Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Vanderburgh County Humane Society or St. Wendel Catholic Church
