Obituary:
Norbett Melvin Juncker, 86, of Mt. Vernon, IN, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 20, 2009. He was born November 24, 1923 to Carl C. and Alma (Escher) Juncker, of rural Posey County. Upon graduating from Mount Vernon High School, Norbett went to work at the Western Star Newspaper in Mount Vernon. He then went to work in the shipyards. Following his time in the LST Shipyards, he was employed by Servel. Norbett entered the service of the United States Navy in January of 1944. In April of 1946, after traveling the world by ship, his tour of duty ended. He honorably left the Navy ranked as a RM Second Class Seaman. Norbett was a member of the VFW Post #1114 and the American Legion Post #5. Upon his return to the area, Norbett went to work at Arkla, where he worked until his retirement. He was also a member of the Robinson Township Conservation Club and St. Peter’s United Methodist Church. Norbett enjoyed gardening and farming. He also loved sports. When his health allowed, he faithfully followed University of Evansville sports, especially basketball. Caring and generous, Norbett was close to his family. He often attended activities of his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Norbett was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his siblings, Eloise E. Juncker, Wilton C. Juncker and his wife, Opal and Rawlin S. Juncker and his wife, Virginia, all of Mt. Vernon. Surviving nieces and nephews include, Debra (Ron) Linstromberg of Auburn, IN, Bob (Linda) Juncker of Mt. Vernon, Ann (Glenn) Proctor of Mt. Vernon, Randy Juncker of Mt. Vernon, Brian (Pam) Juncker of Darmstadt, Dennis (Debbie) Juncker of Mt. Vernon and Jim (Shana) Juncker of Mt. Vernon. Also surviving are great nieces and great nephews, Ryan (Anna) Linstromberg of South Bend, IN, Sarah Linstromberg of Auburn, IN, Jason Linstromberg of Auburn, IN, Lisa Linstromberg of Auburn, IN, Jennifer (Adam) Heim of Hoffman Estates, IL, Theresa Juncker of Evansville, Jamie Grabert of Mt. Vernon, Kellie Grabert of Memphis, TN, Michael Juncker of Mt. Vernon, Shawn Spindler of Indianapolis, Adam (Lauren) Juncker of Mt. Vernon, Stephanie Juncker of Mt. Vernon, Alyssa, Emily, Daniel and Faith Juncker, all of Mt. Vernon. Great great nephews are Eli Linstromberg and Royce Lintromberg-Stutzman of Auburn, IN. Funeral services for will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 2800 S. St. Philip Road, Rev. Dennis Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Tuesday at the church.
