Bill Becker, age 76, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, January 06, 2010 at Deaconess Hospital.
Bill was a very patriotic person and had served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was a very talented, intelligent person who could speak on a wide variety of subjects.
Mr. Becker had worked for Whirlpool Corporation for 35 years before retiring in 1996.
Surviving Bill are his wife of 53 years, Verla (Meritt) Becker; three daughters, Rita Thews and her husband, Daniel, Lauren Jones and her husband, David and Gina Becker, all of Evansville; five grandchildren, Crystal Conger, Daniel Coomes, Jessica Roark, Scott Coomes and Sarah Coomes and five great grandchildren.
Mr. Becker was preceded in death by his son, John J. Becker in 1991, a sister, Bernida Felty and three brothers, Ivan, Arvin and John Becker.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Troy Boulware officiating. Burial will follow in Old Springer Cemetery in Springerton, IL.
Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
