Name:
Harold Laubscher

Date:
August 27th, 1935 - January 8th, 2010

Obituary:
Harold John Laubscher, age 74, of Evansville, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2010. Harold was employed at Western Electric for over forty years before his retirement in 1993. After his retirement he worked part time for Quadco Automotive. Surviving are his wife of fifty four years, Norma J (Rogers) Laubscher, two daughters, Cathy Schiff (Bob), Karen Smith (Steve), both of Evansville; a son, Mark Laubscher of Evansville and a sister, Marilyn “Jeannie” Bivins of Evansville. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Nathan Schiff (Lesley), Jared Schiff, Kayla Vaughn (Eric), Kelli Hertel (Chris), Kelsey Smith, Preston Hertel and Paxton Laubscher. Harold was also Great Grandpa to Aubrey & Paige Vaughn and Gavin Schiff. Harold had many passions including daily breakfasts at Hagedorn’s Tavern, playing in several card clubs and avidly following Reitz and Mater Dei athletics. Harold took his greatest pleasure from helping his children and grandchildren in any way possible. No home or automobile repair was completed without his helping hands. One of the greatest lessons Harold imparted to his family was the value of hard work. Over the course of his many working years he rarely missed a day. Despite crippling rheumatoid arthritis he worked harder in a day than most of us work in a week. In life Harold never wanted to be the center of attention but with his passing his children would like to offer the following tribute. “Dad, your loving, providing and nurturing parenting shaped us into the people we are today. We are deeply grateful to have called you ‘Dad’.” Harold will be dearly missed by everyone who was blessed enough to have had him in their lives. His lively humor and hearty laugh will be remembered by all. How blessed we were to have experienced such a good man, husband, dad, granddad, and great granddad. Harold was the heart and soul of the entire family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Jeff Long officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Monday and from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W.
