Obituary:
Charles G. Lawrence, age 65, of Evansville, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2010 at Deaconess Hospital. Mr. Lawrence had worked as a teacher and a coach for the EVSC for 28 years at West Terrace Grade School and Bosse High School before retiring in 2003. He served his country as a member of the United States Navy, as a USN Hospital Corpsmen from 1967 to 1969 receiving the USN Unit Commendation Ribbon and in the Indiana National Guard as a Medic and part-time recruiter. He was a member of the VFW Post #1114, one of the founding members of the North High School Letterman’s Club, a member of Germania Maennerchor, the Huddleback Club and the USI Varsity Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending sporting events and volunteering at the LST. Surviving Mr. Lawrence are his two daughters, Norma Lawrence of Cincinnati, OH and Elizabeth Lawrence Childers and her husband, Grant of Carmel, IN and twin grandchildren on the way. He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Sandra Lee (Hall) Lawrence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. John Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
