Pauline Marie (Steger) James was born on June 22, 1932 in Brooklyn New York and Passed away on March 5, 2010 in Evansville Indiana.
While accomplishing many things in her life Pauline loved to share stories about her youth growing up in Brooklyn and working for Gourmet magazine in her early twenties. After which she moved to Miami Florida before settling down in Evansville where she raised her family and went on to retire from Alcoa.
Pauline is survived by a large family: Daughters: Paula Linz of Brooklyn New York, Debbe Nolan of Daytona Florida, Dianna Reese of Auburn Alabama, Star Lincoln and Tena Gander both of Evansville. Sons: Freddie Horton of Orlando Florida, Forrest James Jr. of Evansville, Steven Horton of Coral Gables Florida, Jean-Paul James of Evansville. Pauline is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Pauline and her family would like to thank Dr. Harris, Dr. Furman and her nurse Kathy for their excellent care and compassion. They would also like to thank the staff and nurses at West Park and the nurses on staff at Deaconess Gateway that took care of Pauline in her final hours.
At Pauline’s request only a two hour celebration of her life will take place at Pierre Funeral Home on Monday from 5pm -7pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Vanderburgh County Humane Society or the Riley Children’s Hospital.
