Obituary:
William D. “Bill” Burns, 81, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010 at his home. Bill had worked for Briggs Trucking as a truck driver, had been President of the Stop Light City CB Club and was a member of the Hardwood Southern Baptist Church. He loved to bowl and garden and was especially proud of his tomatoes. Surviving are his daughter, Billie Jo Burns of Evansville; his son, Roger D. Burns of Newburgh and a brother, Allen Wayne Burns of Henderson, NV. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Bobbie Jo Hyneman, Shelly Fleener, Candice Burns and Kurtis Burns and great grandchildren, Kasey Burns, Samantha and Danielle Fleener. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Donovan) Burns in 2001 and his parents, Markle and Vaiden (Prow) Burns. Funeral services for Bill will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Ted Totsch officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Clay, KY. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. The family would like to thank Dr. Karl Sash and the nurses and techs of Deaconess Unit 5100 for the love and care shown to their father.
