| Obituary: |
William J. Heugel, loving husband, wonderful and devoted father and grandfather, age 74, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Deaconess Hospital.
Mr. Heugel retired from the United States Army after serving for 23 years and was a Vietnam veteran. After his retirement from the Army he had worked on the L&N Railroad for 5 years and at Whirlpool for 6 years. Bill was a life member of the VFW Post #1114.
Bill had a great sense of humor, was very quick witted, loved to talk to people and never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and playing golf. He will be deeply missed.
Surviving Bill are his wife of 53 years, Peggy (Baker) Heugel; two daughters, Wanda Heugel and Karen Wilbur and her husband, Scott, both of Evansville; one son, William B. Heugel and his wife, Edna, of Columbus, GA and a sister, Helen McCallum of Brooksville, FL. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Jennifer Addison, Christy Lopez, Shawn Watson and Jason Spears and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Grace Alice Heugel and a brother, Wilbur Neal Heugel.
Funeral services for Bill will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Michael Stoelting officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the Vanderburgh County Humane Society.
