Karen S. “Purrr-Dee” Adams, age 57, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born November 16, 1952 to Ed and Leona Englert.
Karen had worked as a Senior Systems Analyst for American General Finance for 17 years. Her family and friends were the most important things in her life. She enjoyed taking cruises with her friends and loved using her home as a place to bring her family and friends together. In 2002, Karen became “Purrr-Dee”, a River City Clown. “Purrr-Dee” filled many hearts with joy. Karen taught herself to crochet and made many beautiful things for her family to treasure.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Chris Gorham of Evansville; her furry companion, Libby; her parents, Edwin A. and Leona W. (Schapker) Englert of Evansville; six sisters, Judy (Jerry) Knapp of Evansville, Nancy (David) Riedford of Poseyville, Peggy (Mike) Miller, Lisa (Mike) Paul, Kellie (James) Latham and Kim Englert, all of Evansville; three brothers, Ronald (Debbie) Englert, Dennis (Shannon) Englert and Ed (Sue) Englert, all of Evansville. Also surviving are 25 nieces and nephews, 21 great nieces and nephews and her dear friends who were always there for her, her
“cousin, sister, friend”, Mary George and close friend, Angie Fischer.
Funeral services for Karen will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Eugene Schroeder officiating.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
Memorial contributions may be made to Deaconess Hospice.
The family would like thank Dr. Magbool Ahmed and his staff and Deaconess Hospice Care for their loving care of Karen.
