Ruby Jean Grebe

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ruby Jean Grebe, our loving Mother, Granny, and friend. Ruby was surrounded by her loving family as she went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 17, 2024. Ruby was born on August 18, 1935 to JP and Lois Baker. Alongside her sister, Edna Stanley, she attended Fredonia Kentucky Elementary and High School. Shortly after graduation, she met the love of her life Albert (Bud) Grebe and his very cool Bittersweet Convertible Ford Mercury. They were married and blessed with two amazing daughters, Angie and Kimbra. Her love only grew after the birth of her two grandsons, Blake and Dylan Brooks and then the addition of two more amazing girls, Bayli Brooks and the soon to be Morgan Brooks and her beloved grand dogs, TeBow and the late Buster. TeBow and Granny spent countless hours together on the couch watching DVD’s. Ruby was a very active member in Salem Heusler Church until her health declined and no longer allowed her to participate. She was the organizer of meals for VBS, the Benevolence Committee, mashed potatoes for the Sausage Supper, and the Sharing Basket was especially close to her heart. She always wanted the Sharing Basket to have peanut butter and Grape Jelly to pass out so the little ones would ALWAYS be able to fix themselves a PB&J sandwich. She had much empathy for the little children whose bellies may not be full. Ruby will be missed by all who knew her. She also had a very special friend group, Marilyn and Kenny Burgdorf, Sandy Bryant, and Ann Baldwin, Letha Deig, Wayne Adams…. that was always so good about visiting, bringing gifts, cards, food and letting Ruby know how special she was to them and the late gambling buddy, Marilyn Deig. She also had 3 very good long- distance buddies, Delores Hedeman, Marilane Becker, and Joy Beck, a very special first cousin. Ruby is survived by her daughters, Angela Jean Grebe, and Kimbra Leigh (Rick) Brooks; grandsons, Blake Albert (Bayli) Brooks and Dylan Ray (Morgan) Brooks; her very dear sisters-in-law who were more like sisters, Judy (Harold Dillworth) Grebe, and Bonnie (Bill) Frost. Ruby also had a nephew, Micheal (Rose) Stanley from Colorado and from Evansville her very special nieces, Teri (Dan) Riddle, Debbie Wells, Tami (Larry) Collins, and Beth (Ron) Folz who held a very special place in Ruby’s heart. They treated Aunt Ruby with love and respect. Ruby also had many special great and great-great nieces and nephews. At the end of Ruby’s declining health, Marie Folz, a great niece and great PT, helped Angie and Kim greatly with their Mom’s caregiving. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert (Bud) Grebe, her parents JP and Lois Baker, her sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Palmer Stanley, late niece, Ronda Stanley, and her very dear late sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Bill Rueger and JoAnn and Pud Niehaus. Ruby will be missed by all who knew her. She was a much beloved wife, mother, granny, sister and friend. Ruby lived a very full life as a homemaker. Her family and Christian faith was her greatest source of strength and joy. Funeral service for Ruby will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Salem Church of Heusler, Pastor Al Schmitz officiating. Burial will take place in Locust Hill Cemetery in Evansville. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 10:00 AM until service time on Saturday at Salem Church of Heusler, 11325 Lower Mt. Vernon Road, Evansville, IN 47712.
