Alex J. Folz

Alex James Folz, 48, of Dallas, Texas passed away in his sleep, July 8, 2016 in Chicago, IL while on vacation with his wife. Alex was born on February 27, 1968 in Evansville, IN. He attended Perry Heights Grade School in Evansville and graduated from Norman High School in Norman, OK. He received his accounting degree from the University of Oklahoma. He was an auditor for the Louisiana Department of Revenue in Dallas, TX. He attended St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Dallas and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the business fraternity, Delta Sig. He married Leslie Jo Ramsey on July 25, 2015 and she survives. He is also survived by Leslie’s four children, Sarah Oeftering of Portland, OR, Elizabeth Oeftering of Columbus, MO, Mary Kate Oeftering of Dallas, TX and Peter Oeftering of Austin, TX; his parents, Gene and Libby Folz of Pinckneyville, IL and his three sisters, Annette (Rick) Stacy of Huntington, WV, Alison (Chris) Miller of Woodstock, GA and Amy (Stuart) Morgenstern of Pinckneyville, IL; his nephews and nieces whom he adored, Brandon, Trevor and Chandler Stacy of Huntington, WV, Jonathon Folz and Angelina Miller of Woodstock, GA and Trenton and Tristyn Morgenstern of Pinckneyville, IL. Also surviving are his best friends, John and Lambrini Cade of Dallas, TX and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Alex was the grandson of the late Charles and Stella Folz of Evansville and the late Edward and Theresa Levina Zoglman of Jasper, IN. He was preceded in death by his cousins, Jobe Zoglman and Brad Zoglman. He was an avid tennis player, loved going to football games, especially the Oklahoma Sooners with his friend, Shawn Younger. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal fan. He and his wife, Leslie, loved traveling and being outdoors. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Rev. Anthony Govind officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street where a rosary will be said at 5:00 P.M. Friends may also visit with the family from 9:30 A.M. until service time Wednesday at St. Agnes Catholic Church. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Special Olympics.
