Alice Gillenwater

Alice Jean (Jeannie) (Turner) Gillenwater, 61, of Evansville, went to be with her mother and father on May 26, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. Although her body gave up her mind and spirit stayed strong. Her gentle nature and kindness to all she met is what she will be remembered by. During her time on earth she was a very loving lady who always placed others before herself. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, helping others and tending her many flowers beds. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church for over 40 years, where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the St. Agnes Altar Society, helped at the Summer Social and many other St. Agnes Church functions. In 1964 she was crowned May Queen at Mater Dei High School. Jeannie is survived by her husband of 27 years, James Gillenwater, daughters, Wendy Woehler and her husband, Dennis, Kelly Frankenberger, Jamie Gillenwater and Jason, and sons, Todd Frankenberger and his wife, Kristy, Greg Frankenberger and Angie, Jason Frankenberger and his wife, Lori, all of Evansville. Also surviving are a stepdaughter, Candi Elmore and her husband, Jeff, of Vincennes, a stepson, James Gillenwater, Jr. of North Carolina, sisters, Susan Reynolds and her husband, John of Mt. Vernon, IN and Jennifer Hammons of Indianapolis, brothers, Vincent (Wayne) Turner and his wife, Carol, Danny Turner and his wife, Rhonda, all of St. Wendel, Ed Turner of Wadesville and stepsister, Becky O’Conner, grandchildren, Randy Dolan, Zain Dillon, Carrie Perigo, Denny, Dion and Devon Woehler, Hunter, Dalyn, Brooklyn, Bailey and Berkeley Frankenberger, Jasmine and Alex Elmore and Cindy and Nicole Gillenwater and great grandchildren, Nathaniel and Alexandria Perigo. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret (Martin) Hammons and her father, James Turner. Funeral services will begin at 8:30 A.M. Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Pierre Funeral Home continuing at 9:00 A.M. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Rev. David Nunning officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street where a memorial service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
