Allan C. Knapp

Allan C. Knapp, age 73, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019 surrounded by his family. Allan was born August 21, 1946 at home in St. Wendel, IN, to the late Francis and Mary Lee (Rexing) Knapp. He grew up on a farm where he learned the value of family, developing close bonds with his siblings. He later graduated from St. Wendel, Mater Dei, ISUE, and IU School of Dentistry. He practiced as a dentist for 36 years. Allan was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church and St. Wendel Catholic Church. Allan married the love of his life, Mary Helen, on August 11, 1973, and spent 46 wonderful years with her working side by side and raising their four children. Allan loved the outdoors and inspired a love of nature in others. He was a family man, generous with his time and talent. People knew Allan as a man of great integrity. He was humble, honest, and always grateful for what he had been given. As a long-time dentist in Evansville, he was a well-respected and active member of the community. More than anything, Allan believed in people and inspired them to be their best. Surviving Allan are his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Helen (Miller) Knapp; daughters, Angela Siesky (Brent) of Zionsville, IN; Laura Masterson (Nick) of Fishers, IN, and Melanie Knapp of Tucson, AZ; a son, Brian Knapp (Rowena) of Green Bay, WI; six sisters, Linda Burkhart (Ron), Jeanette Scheller (Tom), Diana Folz (Irvin), Glenda Hayes (Keith), Darlene Keenan, and Sandy Martin (Barry); one brother, Jerry Knapp (Judy); sister-in-law, Elvira Knapp as well as seven grandchildren, Max and Leo Siesky, Dominic and Christopher Knapp, and William, Scarlett and Elizabeth Masterson. In addition to his parents, Allan was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Knapp, in 2013. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, December 13, 2019 at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted at 4:00 PM. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at St. Wendel Catholic Church. Friends may also visit with the family prior to the service, starting at 8:30 AM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
