Brenda Kay Koch

On Friday, February 25, 2022 with her two sisters, son, daughter and son-in-law by her side, Brenda Kay (Simms) Koch took her last breath here on earth at approximately 3:05 PM. Brenda was a stay-at-home mom for many years, raising her two children, Stephanie and Todd; baby sitting her niece, Sarah, great niece, Madison, other kids along the way and last, but certainly not least, her only grandchild, granddaughter, Zayli Talan Koch. Until she moved from her home of over forty years one year ago, Brenda enjoyed tending to her flowers and yard or just sitting on her porch, rocking and people watching. When she moved next door to her daughter, she loved watching and feeding the birds and sweeping up their “messes”. However, her greatest joy was any time spent with her granddaughter, especially going out to eat, watching her grow up and being silly with her all the time. Brenda attended Forest Hills Baptist Church off and on during her life, as well as Bethel Church and Bible Center Cathedral. She was a 1965 graduate of FJ Reitz High School. Go Panthers!! Brenda is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Tony) Francis; son, Todd Koch; granddaughter, Zayli Koch; sisters, Becky (Bud) Koehler and Carla Higgs; nephew, Josh (Kelly) Miller, nieces, Amanda (John) McNeely, Sarah (Marc) Shelton; great nieces and great nephews, Madison Koehler, Easton and Carson Miller, Keenan Koehler, Payton McNeely and Mackenzie Shelton; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Louise Simms and by a nephew, Brian Koehler. Funeral services for Brenda will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Tyrone Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
