Bryan K. Elkins

Bryan Keith Elkins, age 55, of Evansville, passed away at 12:13 pm on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Bryan was born on June 26, 1959 in Madisonville, Kentucky to Charles and Patricia (Ashby) Elkins. Bryan had retired from Whirlpool Corporation after 18 years of service were he was on the Executive Board member of Local 808. He was a 1977 graduate of F.J. Reitz High School, where he was a proud Reitz Panther Football player. He loved music and started playing the drums at age 10. By age 15 he started playing in his father’s band, The Country Boys and played for 30 years. Bryan even played drums on Beale Street in Memphis and in Nashville, Tenn. Bryan was a diehard IU Basketball, Colts Football and Dale Earnhardt Jr & Sr Fan. He never missed a game. He loved to read and always had a book with him. His morning was not complete unless he had read the paper front to back. Bryan had some of the Best Friends in the world. The memory of his humor and fun times will get us through this. He loved you all and would always say Love you miss you mean it. He was a Master Mason who belonged to Orphans Friend Lodge #523 in White Plains, Kentucky. Bryan said the best day of his life was when he became a dad. He loved life and gave back as a organ donor. His wishes were to be cremated. He is preceded in death by his Grandparents James and Pansy Ashby of Nortonville, Ky and Lee and Ruth Elkins of White Plains, Ky and Aunt and Uncle Gwynne and Jimmy Ashby of Madisonville, Ky Surviving Bryan besides his parents are his son’s, Zachary Blaine Dossett-Elkins; Corey Zane Dossett-Ware, sister, Kelley (Gene) Esche of St. Philips; brother, Blake (Stephanie) Elkins of Evansville; his Godchild and niece, Emiley (Darryl) Chamberlain; nieces, Katelyn Esche and Huntter Arguello and nephew, Charles Blake Elkins, Aunts and Uncles, Johnny and Patsy Ashby of Nortonville, Ky: Carroll and Dorothy Elkins and Nell Ruth Rickard of Madisonville, Ky and Monty and Linda Dionisio of Williamburg, WV. and lots of cousins, also the mother of his children Heather Dossett of Boonville. There will be a service held celebrating Bryan’s life at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Zion United Church of Christ Lippe, 9000 Copperline Rd, Rev. Jeff Long officiating. Friends may visit from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday at the church. Lunch to follow service.
