Carol J. Tucker

Carol Jeanine (Eckardt) Tucker, 93, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital. Carol was born on May 22, 1929 in Evansville, Indiana to Herman and Jettie (Raley) Eckardt. She was preceded in death by her parents, and in 2016 her husband of 68 years, John H. Tucker. Carol graduated from Central High School in 1946. While a student she was co-editor of the Centralian, a member of Job’s Daughters, sold the most WWII War Bonds in a bond drive, was recognized in the newspapers, and received a football signed by the entire Bears football team! She began working at age 14 in her father’s dry cleaners for the summer and then at Shuttler’s Music Store where she continued throughout high school and into early marriage. John sold Wear Ever Cookware and Carol helped him cook many meals in the homes of prospective buyers. She sold Avon walking house to house for several years, and was active in the Delaware Elementary and Central High School PTAs throughout her children’s school years. Carol and her lifelong friend Doris organized their class reunions together for over 50 years. Carol and John were avid travelers, enjoying many trips with their good friends Wilma and Cecil. They visited most of the continental United States by car or their motor home including visits to Canada and Mexico. They also enjoyed traveling to Europe, the Middle East, Asia, the Pacific, and the Caribbean. Carol is survived by her children, Alan Tucker of Bloomington, Indiana, Christina (Thomas) Mirando of Evansville, and Kim Eisman of Evansville. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michelle (Steven) Muller of Ocoee, Florida, John (Leslie) Mirando of Middletown, Indiana, and Carissa (Brianna) Eisman of Litchfield Park, Arizona. Also, by great grandchildren McKensey (Tim) Lambert, Jesseca Mirando (fiancé Daniel Chapman), Luke Muller, one great-great granddaughter due any day, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services for Carol will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Bruce Applegate officiating. Burial will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
