Dennis Reed

Dennis Lee Reed, 54, of Evansville, passed away Friday, January 23, 2009 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Dennis was a self employed Electronic Technician. He loved to fish, coach basketball and baseball and enjoyed watching Reitz sporting events and IU basketball games. He also was a proud Dance Dad for dance competitions and volunteered for the Howell Swim Team. He also loved to sing and make people laugh. Dennis is survived by his wife, Lori Kassel-Reed, three daughters, Megan Cutrell and her husband, Jason, Sydney Reed and Alexandra Reed and a son, Cooper Reed, all of Evansville, his adoptive mother, Barbara Woods of Evansville and seven sisters and their husbands, Sherri and Jim Warren of Princeton, Connie and Buck Whitten, Toyzann and Jaime Collazo, Julie and Jeff Whitlock and Myra and Kevin Keerl, all of Evansville, Irma and Mike Garrett of Haubstadt and Brenda and Steve Osborne of Owensboro, KY. Also surviving are his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charlene and Arnold Bridgeman of Evansville, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gary and Linda Kassel of Newburgh, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kyle and Lauri Kassel of Evansville and many nieces and nephews. He was also looking forward to the arrival in May of twin grandsons, Braden and Jackson Cutrell. He was preceded in death by his biological parents when he was just three years old, Helen (Watkins) and Otis Reed and his adoptive father, Myron Woods in November of 2008. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 26, 2009 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Gene Backes officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. James United Methodist Church West, 3111 Hillcrest Terrace, Evansville, IN 47712 or the American Cancer Society. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Sheryl Ziegler and her staff for their compassion and care, the special nurses at St. Mary’s Day Treatment Center, Vista Care Hospice and all our family and friends for their ongoing prayers and support during Dennis’ illness.
