Diana Kay Lynn

Diana Kay (Hartig) Lynn, age 77, of Evansville, IN, went to be with the LORD on Friday, March 27, 2026. Diana was born October 7, 1948, in Evansville, IN to Herbert S. Hartig and Mary Lois (Greenwell) Hartig. She graduated from F.J. Reitz High School in 1966 and from Indiana University with a B.S. in Elementary and Special Education. She later went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Special Education. Diana was a Special Education teacher with the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation for 43 years, first at Glenwood Middle School and later, Central High School. While at Central, she was named “Teacher of the Year” by the University of Evansville and was the first Special Education teacher to ever receive the award. Diana was a remarkable and vibrant person, whose very presence filled every room she entered. She deeply loved people, especially her family, her close friends, and her students. Her generosity and kindness, mixed with a little bit of sassiness likely from being a lifelong red-head, left a lasting impression on every person she met. She was a person of many talents; she loved gardening, reading, and most notably, art. Her paintings depicted some of her favorite things, flowers, nature, and beautiful colors. Diana will be remembered for her giving nature, the joy she brought to the lives of so many, and all the possibilities she saw in life. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all of us who loved her until we can be reunited with her in Heaven. Diana is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gary Lynn; daughter Carrie Lynn (Charles Sidwell); brother Gary Hartig (Donna); sister Kathy (Hartig) Schmitt (Tom); and many beloved friends and family. Diana is preceded in death by her parents Herbert S. Hartig and Mary Lois (Greenwell) Hartig; brother H. Wayne Hartig; sister Karen (Hartig) Fegan; and in-laws Arthur Edwin Lynn and Genevieve (Hilgeman) Lynn. Funeral services for Diana will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Terry Gamblin officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until service time on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
