Dorothy Louise Seib

Dorothy Louise (Schmitt) Seib, 89, of rural Evansville, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. Dorothy was born August 15, 1928 in Wadesville, IN to the late Edward and Laura (Knapp) Schmitt. She was a longtime member of St. Wendel Catholic Church, the St. Wendel Church Ladies Club, Armstrong Recreation Center and the St. Ann’s Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved to cook and take care of her family. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards, dancing, vegetable gardening, canning, baking cookies for family gatherings and in her later years, coloring to pass the time. She also enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving Dorothy are her husband of 71 years, Clarence Seib; two daughters, Linda (Dennis) Schmitt and Brenda (Nick) Winiger, both of Evansville; five sons, Leonard (Carol) Seib of Evansville, Ron (Martha) Seib of Haubstadt, Kenneth (Sharon) Seib, Ralph (Dena Jacobs) Seib and Ernest (Jane) Seib, all of Evansville; sixteen grandchildren, Scott (Jennifer) Seib, Kerri (Brian) Schu, Angela (Craig) Kaiser, Mark Seib, Kelly (Craig) Fehrenbacher, Tim Seib, Lisa (Dennis) Dillon, Janelle (Robert) Blake, Erica (Jeff) Gee, Chad (Sae La) Seib, Cory (Amber) Seib, Alan (Candice) Schmitt, Jason (Priscilla) Schmitt, Joshua (Shelby) Winiger, Brooke (Dustin) Haley and Emma Louise Winiger and great grandchildren, Madison and Katelynn Seib, Abby, Audrey and Noah Schu, Kendall, Kierstyn, Kyle and Kourtney Kaiser, William and Lilly Fehrenbacher, Cassie and Keegan Dillon, Annabelle, Isabelle, Clarabelle and Marybelle Blake, Hayden and Axton Gee, Parker and Finley Seib, Isla and Abel Seib, Bailey and Dailynn Schmitt and Jaxon, Paisley and Jake Schmitt. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Klenck and Leora Scheller; by two brothers, Clarence and Norman Schmitt; by two grandchildren, John Baumholser and Michael Seib and by an infant great grandchild. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at St. Wendel Catholic Church, Rev. Ed Schnur officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Wendel Church Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home and from 9:30 A.M. until service time on Tuesday at St. Wendel Catholic Church.
