Dorothy Louise Koressel

Dorothy Louise (Stratman) Koressel, age 90, of Evansville, passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2011 at Deaconess Hospital. Dorothy celebrated her 90th birthday on Thursday, October 20th. Dorothy was a homemaker and a charter member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. She enjoyed square dancing, crochet and quilting, travel, flowers and especially her family. She was a devout Catholic with a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother and the Eucharist. Her ministry was crocheting prayer shawls. She was very dedicated to her late husband, Andrew Koressel, Sr. Dorothy is survived by four daughters, JoAnn (Otto) Preske of Gatlinburg, TN, Sister Betty Koressel, S.P. of Jasper, Kathy (John) Brendel and Jenny (Jeff) Gaul, both of Evansville; two sons, Andrew J. (Barbara) Koressel, Charles (Debbie) Koressel, both of Evansville, as well as her grandchildren, Erik Preske, Christa Wolf, Dan Koressel, Emily Morrison, Kari Korschgen, Jamie Flatt, Josef Koressel, Matt Clements, Lynn Griffin, Paul Clements, Nikolas Koressel, Matthew Brendel, Mark Brendel and Jill Gallman. Also surviving are a sister, Mary Arnold of Ft. Branch, IN, 21 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Koressel was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Andrew Koressel, Sr., a sister, Beulah Zehner, a grandson, Michael Brendel and great grandson, Levi Brendel. Funeral services for Dorothy will begin at 10 A.M. Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Rev. James Blessinger officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W Franklin St., where there will be a Rosary said at 3:00 P.M. Friends may also visit with the family from 9:30 A.M. until service time on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
