Eileen C. Weinzapfel

Eileen C. (Kercher) Weinzapfel, 87, of Evansville, passed away Friday, November 22, 2019 at The Terrace at Solarbron. Eileen was born November 5, 1932 in Evansville to the late John F. and Catherine A. (Beckerle) Kercher. She was a homemaker and also worked as the secretary and bookkeeper for her husband, Pete at Weinzapfel Well Drilling and Plumbing. Eileen was a 1950 graduate of Memorial High School, a member of St. Philip Catholic Church, the Ladies’ Club at the church, Posey County Home Economics Club and was in a Bridge Club. She enjoyed playing golf, cards, cross stitch and reading. Surviving Eileen are her husband of 66 years, Paul “Pete” Weinzapfel; daughters, Terri (Dan) Barnes, Michele (Don) Fleming and Paula (Rodney) Baehl; sons, David (Janet) Weinzapfel, Dan Weinzapfel, John Weinzapfel and Jeff (Lori) Weinzapfel; sisters, Sr. Mary Victor Kercher, O.S.B., Jeanne (Harold) Guetling, Charlotte (Al) Richter and Marian Seibert; grandchildren, Kevin (Kelly) Weinzapfel, Adam (Laura) Weinzapfel, Allen (Emily) Weinzapfel, Paul Weinzapfel, Marc Weinzapfel, Kate (Sam) Kuban, Ben Fleming, Sam Fleming and Jake Fleming, Nathan Weinzapfel, Alex (Morgan) Weinzapfel and Megan Weinzapfel, Joshua Baehl, Zachary Baehl and Molly Baehl and twelve great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Danielle Marie Barnes in 2002; by two sisters, Esther Fraser and Ruth Hillenbrand and by brothers, Lawrence, Bob and Victor Kercher and by an infant brother, John Kercher. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at St. Philip Catholic Church, 3500 S. St. Philip Road, Mt. Vernon, IN 47620. Burial will follow in the St. Philip Catholic Church cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted by the church at 3:00 PM. Friends may also visit with the family from 9:00 AM until service time on Wednesday at St. Philip Catholic Church.
