Elizabeth C. Voelker

Elizabeth C. Voelker, 91, of Evansville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 15, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 24, 1932, in Rome, Kentucky, she was the cherished daughter of Francis Lamar and Ellen Cecelia Sims. Betty filled our lives with love, laughter, and warmth. As a devoted mother and grandmother, she made each of us feel special, providing comforting hugs and delicious meals in her home. Her love for the outdoors led to beautiful camping memories shared with family and friends. Betty also served as a Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout den mother, embodying kindness and the love of Christ. She dedicated many years to the German Township Volunteer Fire Auxiliary, Germania Damenchor, and VFW Post 1114. Betty and Jim were devoted to their faith and were long-standing members of Resurrection Catholic Church. Her legacy of love and compassion will forever remain in our hearts. Surviving Betty are daughters, Diana (Rick McCormick) McCullough; Patty (Jon) Fehrenbacher; sons, James A. (Rose) Voelker and Andy (Laura) Voelker; son in law, Dave Noland; a brother, John (Peggy) Sims; grandchildren, George (Katherine) McCullough, Frank (Brent) McCullough Phillips, James (Yvonne) McCullough, Joe McCullough, Michael (Sarah Meyer) McCullough, Tonya (Rob) Robertson, Jenny (Adam Lentz) Noland, whom they helped raise; Amanda (Patrick) Craig, Lee (Sara) Fehrenbacher, Kim (Terry) Cox, Keegan Stratton, Hannah (Kyle) Groombridge, Noah (Kathryn) Voelker, Moriah (David) Sombrio and Bethany Voelker; twenty five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, James D. Voelker in April of 2024; by two daughters, Terrie Noland and Sue Stratton; a sister, Nancy Weinzapfel; brothers, Thomas, William and Raymond Sims and grandchildren, John Voelker, Kaleb Stratton and Katie Stratton. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Resurrection Catholic Church, Rev. Jerry Pratt and Rev. Raymond Brenner officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 5:00 PM on Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:30 AM until service time on Monday at Resurrection Catholic Church, 5301 New Harmony Road.
