Frances Tieken

Frances H. Tieken, 88, of St. Wendel, Indiana, died Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at her home. Frances was born March 27, 1919 to Martin and Susan Hasenour. She graduated from Reitz High School. She was a homemaker and a volunteer teacher assistant at St.Wendel School while raising her children. She later worked as a waitress and then volunteered for twelve years as a Pink Lady in the Resource Center at Deaconess Hospital. No matter what role she played in life, she was very devoted to helping others. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, and traveling with family and friends. She was a devoted member of St. Wendel Catholic Church, and a member of Ladies Sodality and St. Ann’s Auxiliary. She is survived by her four sons and their wives, Donald and Sandy Tieken of Roswell, GA, Ronald and Maggie Tieken, Dennis and Susie Tieken, and Gregory and Sharon Tieken; two daughters and their husbands, Rebecca and David Richter, and Janice and Jim Herr; and daughter-in-law, Bernice Tieken. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, Carole Sehnert, Debbie Stiffler, Mara Tieken, Chelsea Harrell, Kristina Watson, Joseph Tieken, Amanda Tieken, Victoria Tieken, Deanna Tieken, Brian Richter, Joshua Richter, Jonathan Herr, Kimberly Catellier, Rosarae Tieken, Rachel Tieken, Stephanie Tieken, Nicholas Tieken and eleven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Sr. Mary Dolorosa, OSB, and brother, Othmar Hasenour. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Wilfred Tieken; son, David Tieken; grandchildren, Michelle and Wayne Tieken; parents, Martin and Susan Hasenour; four sisters, Sr. Mary Othmar, OSB, Eleanor McGuire, Marie Dietsch, Ludwina Schu; and three brothers, Andrew Hasenour, Bernard Hasenour, and Walter Hasenour. Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2007, at St. Wendel Church with Fr. Ed Schnur, Fr. Bill Dietsch, and Fr. Kenneth Herr officiating. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 1 at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin St. with a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. officiated by Fr. Kenneth Herr. Also, there will be visitation at St. Wendel Church from 8:30 to 9 a.m. preceding the funeral service. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Wendel Catholic Church Building Fund or St. Benedict Convent of Immaculate Conception at Ferdinand, IN. The Frances Tieken family is very grateful for all the medical support provided by Dr. Scott Uloth, M.D., Deaconess Home Health Care, Deaconess Ohio Valley Hospice Care and a special thanks to her main care provider Betsy Mackey, who gave her utmost care, as well as Sarah Paul, Pam Tieken, and Carole Frey, who also helped with her needs.
