Gerald "Buddy" Parkinson

Gerald “Buddy” Parkinson Jr., 64, of St. Philip, Indiana passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at the Linda White Hospice House surrounded by his family. Buddy was proud of his career as a Union Iron Worker for Local 103. He was a lifetime member of St. Philip Catholic Church and a member of St. Philip’s Men’s Club, St. Philip’s Conservation Club, Mater Dei Men’s Club, and Knights of Columbus. He coached grade school wrestling for St. Philip School in the Mater Dei Feeder Wrestling program for over 30 years. Buddy also served as an elected member of the Posey County Council as a proud Democrat. He was an avid horse racing enthusiast and would be able to name the Kentucky Derby winner of any given year. Buddy was devoted to his family and his grandchildren were the light of his life. He loved attending all of their activities, taking them fishing, and spoiling them rotten. Surviving Buddy are his wife of nearly 39 years, Paula (Wannemuehler) Parkinson, and his children Megan Altstadt (Chip), Becky Raben (Michael), Jerry Parkinson III (Andrea), Ashley Parkinson (Landon Baker) and grandchildren, David Altstadt, Caroline Altstadt, Charlotte Altstadt, Nora Raben, Jacquelyn Raben, Anna Raben, Kate Raben, Bridger Parkinson, Lois “Lola” Baker. Also surviving are his mother, Carole Parkinson, and his siblings Cindi Parkinson Lawson, Dan Parkinson (Paula), Jeff Parkinson (Karen), his mother-in-law and father-in-law Bonnie and Jim Wannemuehler, his in-laws, many nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald “Jerry” Parkinson Sr. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 21, 2023 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Rev. Ryan Hilderbrand officiating. Burial will follow in St. Philip Church Cemetery. Immediately following the funeral services at St. Philip Church, family and friends are invited to attend a gathering to celebrate Buddy’s life at the St. Philip Conservation Club, 3320 Conservation Drive, Evansville, IN 47712. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:00 AM until service time on Friday at St. Philip Church, 3500 St. Philip Road, S, Mt. Vernon, IN 47620. The family would like to thank his caregiver, Karen, Deaconess Palliative Care, Megan from Deaconess Hospice at Home, staff of the Linda White Hospice House, and all of the friends and family who supported Buddy and his family through his journey.
