Gerald L. Toelle

Gerald “Jerry” Toelle, 80, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at his home. Jerry was born February 8, 1937 in Evansville to the late Norman J. and Margaret (Wentz) Toelle. Jerry had worked at Hocker Brake Company and Quad Co; was the founder and president of Penny National Auto Parts and was the president and owner of Toelle Auto Parts before retiring. He was a member St. Philip Catholic Church; past president of the St. Philip Conservation Club, past president of the St. Philip Men’s Club and a member of the Riverbend Association. Jerry enjoyed playing clabber; playing poker in his Wednesday card club; was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching racing, especially Indy Car. Surviving Jerry are his wife of 60 years, Beverly (Harl) Toelle; daughters, Sherri (Jeff) Scott, Tami (Skip) Seaman, Mary Beth (Warren) Papenmeier and Lori (Mark) Higgins; sons, Jeffrey (Laurel) Toelle, Mark Toelle and Chad Toelle; sisters, Sharon (Bill) Blaine and Mary (Larry) Lutz; brother, John (Rosemary) Toelle; grandchildren, Shannon Hoehn, Tim Scott, Aaron Scott, Amber Toelle, Anthony Higgins, Jordan Toelle, Alex Toelle, Mary Seaman, Rebecca Seaman and Sandra Seaman and five great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy Wayne Toelle; by a grandson, Christian Papenmeier; by a sister, Judy Schmits and by two brothers, Donald and David Toelle. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, October 6, 2017 at St. Philip Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted by the church at 4:30 P.M.
