Jack Gilbert Hahn

Jack Gilbert Hahn, 90, of Evansville, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at the Linda E. White Hospice House. Jack was born on November 6, 1932 in Evansville to the late Walter and Viola (Mueller) Hahn. Jack was a 1952 graduate of FJ Reitz High School and a lifelong supporter of the Panthers. He served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War on the minesweeper USS Quail. He was a member of Funkhouser American Legion Post 8. Jack was honored to be a passenger aboard the Honor Flight of Southern Indiana. Jack was originally a member of St. Paul’s UCC in German Township, but most of his life attended Forest Hills Baptist Church. Jack was a 65-year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 181. He worked for several years with Deig Bros. Construction and later founded the family business, Jack Hahn Excavating, Inc. in 1979. That business continues today with the third generation of family. Jack enjoyed gardening, woodworking, hunting, fishing and boating, as well as time spent on Barkley Lake. In his later years, much of his time was spent following the activities of his grandsons. Surviving Jack are his son and daughter-in-law, John Kevin and Jill Anne (Pfettscher) Hahn; two grandsons, John Camden Hahn and his fiancée, Madelyn Pund and John Caiden Hahn and his girlfriend, Emily Klingle. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, JoAn (Meyer) Hahn in 2008 and by his sister, Doris Jean Hahn Utley. The family would like to thank Brittany and the Veterans Administration for the kind and compassionate care for Jack. Funeral services for Jack will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Jeff Long officiating. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W.
