Janet M. Spahn

Janet M. Spahn, 79, of Evansville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the Bethel Manor Rehabilitation Cottages surrounded by her loving family. Janet was born on October 22, 1946, in Evansville to the late Benjamin and Malinda (Pepper) Wolf. She was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. Wendel Catholic Church. Janet was a devoted schoolteacher and taught in the Diocese of Evansville school system and at North Elementary School in Poseyville. In the 1970s, Janet appeared on the television series Romper Room as Miss Janet. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, National Educator Association and the Indiana State Teacher’s Association. Surviving Janet are her husband of almost 59 years, Eugene Spahn; daughters, Jennifer (Roger) Sieben, Lynn Spahn and Jamie (Rocco) Stasi; sons, Bryan Spahn and John (Justine) Spahn; sisters, Rosie (Dave) Sutton, Shirley Rupprecht, and Chris (Bryan) Fulkerson; one brother, Bob (Margaret) Wolf, and grandchildren, Jordan, Jadin, Miranda, Tristan, Christian, Alexis, Daniel, Adrianna, Hunter and Molly. In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her brother, Ben Wolf. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 17, 2025, at St. Wendel Catholic Church, Rev. Ed Schnur officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Wendel Church Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 4:00 PM on Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. There will be a rosary prayed at 4:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home to conclude the visitation. Friends may also visit with the family from 9:00 AM until service time on Monday at St. Wendel Catholic Church, 10542 W. Boonville New Harmony Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Wendel Catholic Church and St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
