Jerry W. Nord

Jerry Wayne Nord, 79, of Evansville, passed away on Wednesday, August 13th, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born on March 28, 1946, in Tell City, Indiana to the late Karl T. and Amelia (Fruehwald) Nord. He was a 1964 graduate of Tell City High School and went on to graduate from University of Evansville in 1969 with a degree in Engineering. He worked for Babcox and Wilcox for several years and then went on to pursue a real estate career. He worked for Linda Thomas, Citizens, and most recently serving 31 years with RE/MAX Realty. He was a member of the Southwestern Indiana Association of Realtors since 1977, was awarded Realtor of the Year, and served as President in 2013. Jerry was also a land developer and developed Harmony Woods, West Summit Estates, Sunset Ridge and the West Franklin Ridge subdivisions. He was a member of Crossroads Christian Church, attending the men’s fraternity, small group, and keeping active in the Crossroads community. He enjoyed volunteering countless hours at the Mesker Park Zoo, heading the construction crew for Realtor Work Day. Jerry was an adventurer at heart; he loved to travel and try anything and everything new. During his numerous family vacations, he would participate in ziplining, white water rafting, miniature golf, horseback riding, fishing, and exploring. At home he would spend endless hours with his family playing Euchre and air hockey, fishing in the lake, showing off his impressive train table, as well as telling many stories and tall tales. He cherished his time with friends and family, even hosting many family hayrides. He loved to be outdoors working on his yard, building water features, landscaping, and took pride in keeping his yard weeded and well groomed. He had an amazing green thumb and could bring most anything back to life, even from the clearance aisle of the garden center. Surviving Jerry are his wife of 24 years, Connie (Antey) Nord; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly (Patrick) McPhearson; son, Andrew Nord; grandchildren, Grant, Savana, Bridget, Morgan Schneider; Dominic and Dakota Nord; step grandchildren, Clair, Raleigh, Jocelyn, Liam and Maura McPhearson; and very close cousins, Jeanne (Jim) Litherland and Darla (Joe) Sparks. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by an infant sister, Betty Jean Nord; by his first wife, Donna (Daugherty) Nord; Daughter-in-Love Brittany L (Harvey) Nord; and by cousins, Sharon Keilman and Edward Fruehwald. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the compassionate and unwavering care provided by the doctors, nurses, and staff at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville Hospital during Jerry’s final hours, as well as the Vanderburgh County Community Paramedic Program and Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department who supported this family during the months prior to his death. Funeral services for Jerry will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 30th, 2025 at Pierre Funeral Home, with Pastor Jack Arney officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, August 29th, 2025 at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
