Katie Kanowsky

Katherine "Katie" Kanowsky, 26, of Knoxville, TN, passed away Friday, May 1, 2009 in Evansville, IN. Katie was born on July 17, 1982 in Evansville. Katie was a 2001 graduate of North Posey High School and a 2007 graduate of Murray State University. At Murray State she was an active member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and Murray State Student Government. After graduation from Murray State University, she was employed at the Y-12 National Security Complex, in Oak Ridge, TN, in the business development group. Katie has a zest for life that few could match. Katie has always enjoyed being very active, as highlighted by the many years she spent playing sports, traveling and shopping. However, her favorite activity was spending time with her family, friends, and co-workers. Katie was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Louis and Agnes Kanowsky and an uncle, Phillip Waninger. Katie is survived by her parents, Frank and Kathy Kanowsky, her sister, Karen Wilson (David), a nephew, Jacob Wilson and grandparents, Shelby and Lucille Musgrave. She is also survived by several aunts and uncles, Don and Mary Jo Musgrave, Dave and Pat Musgrave, Dan Musgrave, Bill Kanowsky, Agnes Waninger, Louis and Susie Kanowsky along with great aunts and uncles, Bob and Mary Reidfort, Bob and Margaret Remke, Lula Seals, Helen Sharer, Lottie Wimsatt and twelve cousins. Funeral services for Katie will be held at 11 A.M., Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at St. Philip Catholic Church, 3500 St. Philip Road South, Mt. Vernon, IN. The funeral Mass will concelebrated by Father Tom Kessler and Father Ray Remke. Friends may visit with the family from 3 – 8 P.M., Monday, at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin St and from 10:30 A.M. until service time Tuesday at St. Philip Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Katie Kanowsky Scholarship Fund c/o Fifth Third Bank University Heights 5344 Pearl Dr Evansville, IN 47712 or any Fifth Third Bank location.
