Lawrence G. Weber

Lawrence G. Weber, age 96, of Evansville, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at the West River Health Campus. Larry was born November 2, 1920 in Evansville to the late Frank and Bernadine (Brandsasse) Weber. Larry worked at many jobs throughout the years, including Bucyrus Erie for seven years, as a salesman for Western & Southern Life Insurance for twenty five years and as a school bus driver for seventeen years. He was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and more recently St. Boniface Church, the Knights of St. John, Hilltop Grove and Helfrich Golf Club. Larry was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. Larry enjoyed watching U of E basketball games, St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Reitz High School football. In his younger days, he loved to play softball and later in life was an avid golfer. Surviving Larry are four sons, Stanley (Mary Jane) Weber, Randy (Kathy) Weber, Tim (Julie) Weber and Jeff (LeeAnn) Weber; seven grandchildren, Lisa Drake, Christine Weber, Kelsey (Steve) Payne, Josh Weber, Ashley Weber, Justin Whitworth and Allie Burris; eight great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Loretta (Reine) Weber in 2011, by two sisters, Marietta Weber and Genevieve Knaebael and by two brothers, Francis “Jake” Weber and Florian “Nick” Weber. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rev. Anthony Govind officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted by the church at 4:00 P.M. Friends may also visit with the family from 10:30 A.M. until service time on Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Larry’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of West River Health Campus, especially their assisted living and skilled care units, for the compassionate and loving care given to Larry during his stay.
