Linda K Nunning

Linda K. (Mominee) Nunning, age 77, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016 at her home. Linda was born February 28, 1938 in Evansville to the late Reginald and Mary Helen (Williamson) Mominee. She worked at Inland Container for over 35 years and later worked for the Visiting Nurse Association. Linda was someone who could always be counted on in a time of crisis. She possessed God given wisdom that benefited all who were in her confidence as well. Linda was a terrific hostess, aided by her equally hospitable husband, Rick. Everyone who visited their home was made to feel welcome and usually sampled some of her wonderful baked goods. Often, wonderful aromas wafted from her kitchen. One of the hobbies Linda enjoyed very much was tole painting. She painted decorative objects created by Rick in his woodworking shop. They were quite a team. She was one of the most resilient women among her friends and acquaintances, as well as family members. She fought valiantly for many years with ill health, but no one ever heard her say, “I give up”! She thought only of the affect giving up would have on her family particularly. Linda is greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving Linda are her husband of 30 years, Richard J. Nunning; daughters, Brenda Whitney and Patricia (Tim) Steinkamp and three sons, Tim Whitney, Richard Nunning and Mike Nunning, all of Evansville and four sisters, Nancy Jacobs of Camarillo, CA, Diane (Daniel) Loesch of Cincinnati, OH, Carole (Robert) Higgs of Evansville and Anita (Bill) Felts of Newburgh. Also surviving are grandchildren, Heather Nunning, Lori (Ray) Quijada, Jamie Fonte, Mike (Sarah) Nunning, Sam (Ashley) Nunning, Josh (Tavisha) Merritt, Jonathon (Lacey) Steinkamp and Keyton Whitney and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Forschee and a grandson, Jimmy Patton. Funeral services for Linda will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Tony Green officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
