Loretta M. Koester

Loretta M. (Rexing) Koester, 88, of Wadesville, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at her home surrounded by family. Loretta was born March 9, 1929 in Vanderburgh County, IN to the late Leo J. and Cecelia (Bultman) Rexing. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Wendel Catholic Church, the St. Wendel Ladies’ Club, VFW Post #6576 Ladies Auxiliary, the Armstrong RRC and St. Ann’s Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John. Loretta, along with her late husband Ralph, was inducted into the Brute` Society of the Diocese of Evansville in 2011 for their service to their church. Loretta had a great desire to serve others and did so through her gifts of quilting, sharing produce from her garden, baking and cooking. She loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving Loretta are four daughters, Annalee (Jeff Tim) Wilson and Karen (David) Blankenberger, both of Evansville, Lynn (Dr. David) Ogle of Newburgh and Lois (Scott) Curtis of Boonville, IN; six sons, James (Elise) Koester and Raymond (Teresa) Koester, both of Wadesville, Allen (Lori) Koester of Evansville, Duane (Zelda) Koester, Edwin (Julie) Koester and Dale (Lisa) Koester, all of Wadesville; two sisters, Clara Gries and Helen Skaggs; three brothers, Ralph Rexing, Henry Rexing and Bernard Rexing; forty one grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ralph Koester in 2011; by a sister, Irma Schmitt and by three brothers, Walter, Cletus and Joseph Rexing. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at St. Wendel Catholic Church, Rev. Ed Schnur officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Wendel Church Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Thursday at St. Wendel Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Wendel Catholic Church, 10542 W.
