Marian Adler

Marian E. (Elpers) Adler, age 95, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Heritage Center surrounded by her family. Mrs. Adler was a charter member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and the Altar Society at Holy Redeemer, where she had made baptismal gowns for many years. She had worked as a practical nurse for Bethel Manor Nursing Facility for 13 years. Marian enjoyed baking, cooking and sewing. She married the love of her life, Urban H. Adler on November 23, 1939. She loved her husband; her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchild very much. Surviving Marian are six daughters, Geraldine (Clarence) Weber of Princeton, IN, Eileen (Johnnie) Heerdink of Evansville, Mary Lee (Leonard) Briggs of Neoga, IL, Jo Ann (Jimmie) Teeter of Cynthiana and Jean Marie (David) Roos and Jacqueline Sue (Jim) Coulter, both of Evansville; four sons, Robert (JoAnn) Adler of Evansville, Ted (Barbara) Adler and Larry (Cindy) Adler, both of Elberfeld, IN and Tom (Stacey) Adler of Evansville and a brother, John (Tootie) Elpers, Sr. of St. Wendel. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Marian was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Urban H. Adler in 1989; her parents, Carl B. and Gertrude (Titzer) Elpers; by a granddaughter, Jennifer Marie Roos; a grandson, Edward Adler; her sister, Rita Schmitt and four brothers, Charles, William, Joseph and Marvin Elpers. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Rev. Ted Tempel officiating. Burial will follow in the St. James Catholic Church Cemetery in Haubstadt, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted by the church at 2:00 P.M. Friends may also visit with the family from 9:30 A.M. until service time on Wednesday at Holy Redeemer Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of the Heritage Center, Heritage Hospice, Around the Clock Care, especially Margie Gunter and her granddaughter, April Adler Addington for the special care they provided to Marian during her time of need. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church or to Heritage Hospice.
