Marie F Kohut

Marie F. (Deom) Kohut, age 90, of Evansville, passed away Friday, June 12, 2015 at her home surrounded by family. Mrs. Kohut was born January 11, 1925 in Enfield, IL, the oldest of sixteen children of the late Arthur and Lillian (Basinger) Deom. Marie was a homemaker and mother of twelve children. She worked at Information and Referral for several years and volunteered at the St. Anthony Soup Kitchen as well as the Echo Health Clinic. In addition to her volunteering, she loved spending time with her family; was an avid reader, a wonderful cook and gardener. She was an active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. Surviving Marie are four daughters, Stephanie Thiel of Evansville; Theresa (Tom) Lintzenich of Indianapolis, IN, Michele (Jeff) Wildeman of Mt. Vernon and Denise Kohut of Evansville; five sons, Tony (Judy) Kohut, Philip Kohut, Joe (Susan) Kohut, Eric Kohut and Jeff (Debbie Juncker) Kohut, all of Evansville; five sisters, Pat Flynn of Carmel, IN, Lucy Deom of Evansville, Cathy Deom of Brownsburg, IN, Susie Baker of Robinson, IL and Monica (Riley) Winders of Evansville; one brother, Tom (Carol) Deom of Greencastle, IN; fourteen grandchildren, Gerard (Tracy), Nathan (Jessica) and Ryan Wildeman, Zachary (Emily) Thiel, Meagan (Scott) Henderson, Clare Lintzenich, Lauren, Lindsey and Logan Kohut, Betsy Kohut, Jamie (Josh) Brewer, Kristy (Matt) Downey, Brandon Gaines and Nicolette Juncker and nine great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Andrew J. Kohut in 2006; by a daughter, Eileen Kohut; two sons, Nick and Gerard Kohut and by siblings, Eleanor Byers, Ruth Greenwood, Joanie Bayh, Rita Hahn, Marge Engelking, Dorothy Lagapa, Lawrence, Alfred and Gene Deom. Funeral services for Marie will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Pierre Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted by the church at 4:00 P.M.
