Martha F. Scheller

Martha Frances (Folz) Scheller, 93, of Evansville passed away peacefully on February 14th at her daughter and son-in-law’s home surrounded by her loving family. Martha was born August 13, 1931, in Mt. Vernon, IN to the late Andrew and Otillia Folz. Valentine’s Day was her favorite holiday and very fitting that she was reunited with the love of her life, Jim, her husband of 68 years. She was a homemaker and member of Corpus Christi Parish for 36 years. Later in life Martha and Jim transferred their membership to Sacred Heart Catholic Church where they were awarded the Brute Award from the Diocese of Evansville for their service to the Church. She was a faithful servant praying the rosary daily and attending Mass as often as possible. She volunteered weekly at the Little Sisters of the Poor for over 40 years and was still a member of their Auxiliary. Martha loved decorating her home for the holidays, tending to her flowers and always had a love for fashion. Martha and Jim loved to travel and explored many different states throughout the US. She looked forward to her monthly get-togethers with her siblings playing Egyptian Rummy and spending time with her many friends playing Clabber, Dominoes and Bingo. Martha was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She attended as many ballgames, golf matches and events of her grandchildren and great grandchildren as she could following them all over the United States. Martha is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Ron Luigs of Wadesville; sisters, Mary Ann Weinzapfel of Mt. Vernon and Sr. Dolores Folz, O.S.B of Ferdinand; brothers, Frank Folz of Evansville, Henry “Hank” (Sherry) Folz and Jim (Karen) Folz both of Mt. Vernon; brother-in-law, John Scheller of Evansville; granddaughters, Amy (Craig) Epley, Andrea (Sha-Ki) Johnson, Angela (Larry) Harris and Alisha Luigs all of Wadesville; great grandchildren, Brennan, Ava, Elle, Savannah, Ayla, Preston and Jackson and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters Helen Weinzapfel, Edna Schenk and Karen Folz and brothers Richard and Steve Folz. We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Heritage Hospice, especially Nancy, Stacy and Rachel and Tiffany from Senior Helpers for their wonderful care and compassion to Martha. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Reverend Christopher Droste officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9:30 A.M. until service time Tuesday at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Benedict or St. Boniface Catholic Church.
