Mary Ann "Slats" Bittner

Mary Ann “Slats” (Slattery) Bittner, 78, of Haubstadt, passed away at her home on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the conclusion of praying the rosary with her family. Mary Ann was born April 21, 1939 in New Albany, IN to the late Curtis and Rita Mae (Willis) Slattery. She was a 1957 graduate of Mater Dei High School and had worked for Kokie’s Catering and Reis’ Catering for many years. She was a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church, the St. Ann’s Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Mary Ann was a very gracious and charitable person with the heart of a true servant and a great love of her children and grandchildren. Surviving Mary Ann are her daughter, Kathy (Dan) Clodfelter of Haubstadt; three sons, Mark (Carolyn) Bittner of Evansville, Matt (Jean) Bittner and Eric (Lisa) Bittner, both of Haubstadt; grandchildren, Beth (Ralph) Kroft, Dana (Aaron) Wilson, Andrea (Nick) Michel, Alan Bittner, Clint Bittner, Holly Bittner, Mason Bittner, Nicole Bittner, Katie Bittner, Adam Splittorff, Kirby Splittorff, Jared Pfister and Nicole Chandler and great grandchildren, Elisha, Isabel, Ashley, Vivian and Ryan Kroft, Waylon and Liam Dewig and Jack Michel. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Isabelle Bittner, Irma Bittner and Dorothy (Russ) Stratman; brothers-in-law, Joe Seib and John (Bonnie) Bittner and many close friends, including Gilbert and Rosie Adler. In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Leo Bittner in 2015 and by a daughter-in-law, Carol Bittner. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at St. James Catholic Church, Rev. Kenneth Betz officiating. Burial will follow in the St. James Catholic Church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. James Catholic Church or to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
