Mary Geraldine Chipps

Mary Geraldine (Simpson) Chipps, 84, of Evansville, Indiana passed away on Saturday Oct 14, 2017, at the Heritage Center after a brief Illness. “Geraldine” as her friends and family knew her was born on May 17, 1933 to Elza and Agnes Lorene Simpson. She was a 1951 graduate of Bosse High School and worked at Citizen’s National Bank after graduation and again in 1973 for 7 years. She was most proud of her business, “Chippers Country and Bridal Resale Shop” that she owned and operated from 1985 until 1998. Many tri-state residents frequented her shop that was built by her husband on their property. She was a lifelong member of St. Agnes/St. Boniface Church. She had many close friends and enjoyed sewing, quilting, card club, and traveling with them through the years. She leaves behind her husband Gerald, of 64 years, and children, Debbie Woods, Randy (Jackie) Chipps, and Julie (Mike) Morrow. She had 7 grandsons which were her pride and joy. They are John, Brian, and Daniel (Fiancée Karli Davis) Woods, Matt (Ashley) and Corey (Andrea) Chipps, Dalton and Carson Morrow along with 4 great grandchildren and another one due in December. She is also survived by her brother, William (Bill) Simpson of Jeffersonville, Indiana and sister, Elaine Wink, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elza and Agnes Lorene Simpson, a sister-in-law, Carleen Simpson, and a brother-in-law, Ralph Wink. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1600 Glendale Avenue. Friends may visit from 2:00 until 7:00 PM Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 10:30 AM until service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Boniface Parish or a favorite charity of your choice. A special thank you to Dr. James Jenison and his staff for their excellent care throughout the years.
