Matthew Rexing

Matthew T. Rexing, age 41, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010 as the result of a fall while working in Tulsa, OK. Matt, an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 16, worked for Industrial Contractors where he was a dedicated worker of fifteen years. Having learned his work ethic from his father, his coworkers knew that if Matt worked on the job, it was done right. His most treasured joy was his family. Married for eleven years, he and his wife, Lori, joined together to raise a loving family. They spent time together, cooking, reading stories, and enjoying their home which they built. His home was the setting for many Sunday dinners and family gatherings. Matt and his family attended Salem United Methodist Church where the community embraced them with devoted love and respect. He was a 1986 graduate of Mater Dei High School, where he retained close ties with his friends. Surviving Matt are his wife, Lori (Damm) Rexing; his daughter, Sophia Rexing (8) and son, Garett Rexing (6); his parents, Julius and Patricia Rexing of Evansville; two sisters, Kelle Rexing of Portland, OR and Sarah Hooper of Evansville and two brothers, Joe (Suzanne) Rexing of Baltimore, MD and John (Joyce) Rexing of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roger and Omaloy Damm of Evansville; brother-in-law, John (HeeChung) Damm of Versailles, KY and nieces and nephews, Justin, Jordan, Emma, Jaxson, Olivia, Owen and Silas. Funeral services for Matt will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Salem United Methodist Church, 6311 Kratzville Road, Evansville, IN 47710, Pastor Randy Anderson officiating. Also contributing to the service will be family friend, Father Raymond Brenner of St. Joseph Parish of Jasper, Indiana. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Wadesville. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Wednesday at Salem United Methodist Church. Donations may be made in Matt's memory at any Heritage Federal Credit Union in the name of Lori D. Rexing for the benefit Sophia and Garett's education
