Michael L. Folz

Michael L. Folz (73) of Evansville passed away at home on Saturday, February 17, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 7, 1951, in Evansville, IN to Charles A. and Stella M. (Mudd) Folz. He attended Mater Dei High School during his freshman year and then transferred to F.J. Reitz High School where he graduated in 1969. Mike attended USI for two years before starting a 35-year career at Bristol Myers-Squibb in Facility Maintenance, retiring in 2008. Mike was a lifelong member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and belonged to both the St. Agnes & Mater Dei Men's Clubs. He was known as a skilled craftsman, lending his knowledge and helping hands to countless DIY and volunteer projects. He enjoyed car shows, sporting events, especially those involving his grandkids, and cruising around in his restored 56' Chevy with his wife of 51 years, Linda. Before his illness progressed, he and Linda traveled as much as possible, including cherished family trips to Costa Rica and Hawaii, cruising in the Caribbean, and making it to all but 2 of the 50 US states. Mike is survived by his wife Linda; son Eric (Stephanie Stewart), daughter Natalie (Keith) Maasberg, all of Evansville; brothers Gene (Libby), Ed (Kathy), George (Julie), Tony (Diane), all of Evansville; sisters Marian (Leo) Alvey, Marion, KY, Charlotte (Dave) Sears, Port Charlotte, FL, and Patti (Brad) Haller, West Chester, OH; mother-in-law Clara (Nurrenbern) Mull, Evansville, brother-in-law Harry C. Mull, Henderson, KY; grandchildren Dalton and Rachael Folz, Sydney, Levi, and Brody Maasberg, all of Evansville; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his infant brother, Jimmy Folz, and father-in-law, Harry R. Mull. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service held at 4:00 PM. Friends may also visit with the family from 10:00 AM until service time on Thursday at St. Agnes Church, 1600 Glendale Avenue. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Juran, Dr. Kodali, the staff at Davita Eagles, and the Deaconess Home Hospice team for the compassionate care given to Mike.
