Michael Peters

Michael A. Peters went to his heavenly home Monday, June, 6, 2011, on the anniversary of D-Day surrounded by his family at North Park Nursing Home. Michael was born in Evansville on January 29, 1938 to Julius and Elizabeth (Hackett) Peters. He is survived by his wife, Charmaine Peters, daughters, Erika Daza, Lisa (Bill) Pendleton, Annette (J.R.) Schofield and Michelle (Eric) Hamilton and a son, Chet (Tammie) Zuber, all of Evansville, fifteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He especially loved babysitting his granddaughter, Sarah Siebers, great granddaughter, Hannah Gerhardt and great grandson, Austin Gerhardt. He is also survived by brothers, Paul (Roxie) Peters of Florida, Ralph (Joanne) Peters and Lawrenceville, IL and a sister, Shirley Huber of Evansville. Michael was a graduate of Reitz High School in 1958, played football for Reitz and enjoyed all of the football games. He rarely missed a game and loved talking football with anyone who would listen. He was an army veteran and a true American in every sense of the word, “No foreign cars allowed”. He retired from Vectren after 41 years of service. He was an avid golfer – along with his friends and their spouses, they became known as “Boys and Company” and enjoying time with them as a favorite pastime of his. Michael was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and also worked on the Tres Dias team where he thoroughly enjoyed his closeness with the Lord. Preceding him in death are his father, Julius Peters, mother, Elizabeth Peters, sister, Marilyn Shirk, grandson, infant, Max James and a brother-in-law, Jack Huber. Michael’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at North Park Nursing Home, especially Katrina and Heritage Hospice for the love and care of Michael. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Gary Brunson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Church, 3027 Mt.
