Mildred "Millie" Zelenko

Mildred “Millie” Burnes Logan Zelenko, age 63, of Evansville, passed away Friday, December 7, 2012 at the St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis. She went peacefully, looking into her husband’s eyes, while being held by him with her family by her side. Millie was a 1967 graduate of Rex Mundi High School. She had worked for Utterback Jewelers, the office of Dr. Rodney Brown and until her illness; she was an employee of Sterling United Federal Credit Union. Millie had been one of the charter members of Crescent City Civitan. She served on numerous committees, including that of club president. She has numerous certificates for her volunteer work with the American Cancer Society. She had served as chairperson for the Annual Christmas Card and Print sales. Millie loved to read and do counted cross stitch projects. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Devin and most importantly with her husband, Mike. Millie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Olivia (Hertel) Burnes and a brother, Norman Burnes. Surviving are her husband, Michael Zelenko; her son, Michael Logan of Keller, Texas; stepdaughters, Valerie Lewis of New York and Jean (Kenny Baker) Zelenko of Evansville; a brother, Paul (Sharon) Burnes of Wadesville and two sisters, Mary Catherine (Elliott) Gardner of San Antonio, TX and Joyce (Jack) Lasher of Evansville. Also surviving are her grandson and “little angel”, Devin Baker; her aunt, Etta Stewart of Princeton and many nieces and nephews, which she loved like her own children and Dorothy Seibert, whom she loved like her second mother. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Rev. Paul Ferguson officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Mausoleum. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted at 4:00 P.M. Friends may also visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Wednesday at Holy Redeemer.
