Nancy Lee Spisich

The family of Nancy Lee (Strange) Spisich deeply regrets to share the news of her passing on March 29, 2023 at the age of 68. Nancy was born in 1955 to parents Guy and Juanita Strange of Freelandville, IN. She attended North Knox High School where she graduated in 1973. She was a 22-year employee of Bristol-Meyers Squibb where she was widely known and loved by her colleagues. Nancy often said that she was very fortunate to work with the finest people she’d ever met. The Bristol-Meyers Squibb family will long remember Nancy and hold a place in their hearts for her. Nancy enjoyed spending time with family and the outdoors, especially Harmony State Park. One of the most remarkable things about Nancy was her cheerful attitude towards life. Even while she struggled with her health in later years, she always managed a smile for family, friends, and people she’d just met. She liked to say she has never met a stranger. She also shared a special bond with her grandchildren and loved spoiling them each holiday. Nancy was committed to and supported the good work of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Humane Society. She dearly loved her cats, and many a stray found a place in her home. She cared for as many as three at a time, including Chelsea, Keisha, Daisy, Callie, Kelsey, and Wylie. Nancy is survived by her life partner of 36 years, Mark Frankenberger, her son Matt (Meg) Spisich of Chicago, IL, and granddaughters Maeve and Lily, Marks’s daughter Danielle (Zach) Tucker of Richland, IN, and grandchildren Bailee and Bennett. Also surviving are sisters, Marilyn Schroeder of Vincennes, IN, Patricia (Mike) Stoltz of Freelandville, IN, brothers, Guy (Martha) Strange of Shreveport, LA, and James (Margaret) Strange of Freelandville, sister-in-law Wilma Strange, also of Freelandville, and many nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Madonna Moreland and Beverly Jean Strange, and brother Robert Strange. A private family gathering will be held on March 31, 2023. Nancy asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. A celebration of the life of Nancy Spisich will be held at a later date. She is deeply missed.
