Ronald R. Hartmann

Ronald R. Hartmann, age 69, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at his home surrounded by family. Ron was born April 5, 1947 in Evansville to the late Andrew and Eloise (Muensterman) Hartmann. He worked as a Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Deputy for 28 years before his retirement. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a life member of VFW Post #1114, the American Legion Funkhouser Post #8, Riverbend Association, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 73, River City Eagles, Twin Towers, Westside Sportsman’s Club and the Evansville Athletic Club. He was also an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County. Ron enjoyed making bratwurst, doing auto body work, fishing with his grandchildren and taking family vacations. Surviving Ron are his wife of 45 years, Margie (Wagner) Hartmann; two daughters, Angela (Jason) Starks of Hamilton, OH and Kathleen (Deon) Smith of Noblesville, IN; a sister, Rosann Miller of Evansville; brother, Paul (Bonnie) Hartmann of Crestwood, MO and seven grandchildren, Davon, Jayla, Kaden and Jazmine Starks, Isaiah Hartmann, Xavier and Deonna Smith. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Hartmann. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County, Rev. Eugene Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted by the church at 4:00 P.M. Friends may also visit with the family from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County.
