Samuel "Dave" Norman

Samuel David “Dave” Norman, 79, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at the Linda E. White Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. Dave was born on August 26, 1945 in Evansville to the late George “Willard” and Mary “Noveda” (Foster) Norman. He worked at Peabody Coal Company as a welder and heavy equipment operator for more than thirty years prior to retiring. Dave was a muscle car enthusiast throughout his life, spending decades mechanically and cosmetically restoring numerous vehicles. He loved attending car shows to display the cars he collected and meticulously restored. He was a very generous man with his time and talent. He could fix anything and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. If Dave couldn’t fix it, it was probably beyond repair. More than anything, Dave loved spending time with his family and friends. He absolutely adored his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was quick with a joke and had a smile that could light up a room. He maintained a playful attitude, delighted in mischief, and often said that he was still trying to figure out what he wanted to be when he grew up. He was known for his delicious homemade ice cream and wickedly good fudge sauce and always had some on hand for family and friends. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many. Surviving Dave are his wife of 27 years, Tia Norman; children, Brent (Carmen) Norman, Melinda “Mindy” Norman, and Melissa Norman Bork; a stepson, Corey (Julie) Minnette; sister, Nancy Norman; sister-in-law, Jayme Norman; nephew, Shawn (Marylou) Norman; thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by a brother, John Norman, just two months ago. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, Evansville, IN.
